Now I know what some of you are thinking since I thought the same thing, but my bro has the Cobalt SS and did a ton of research and did a muffler delete on his car and it sounds amazing. Its no where near as loud as you think it is and when the car is opened up it just sounds good and mean for a 4 cylinder. I couldnt find any videos of HHR SS cars without the muffler but theres quite a few for the turbo balt.
Has anyone thought of or know anyone thats removed there muffler for a straight pipe on the HHR SS?

I'd agree with you Mike majority of the time but it surprisingly sounds really good with our exhaust. I was completely skeptical till I let my bro with the turbo-balt be the guinea pig.
Here's a vid that closely matches what the balt sounds like in person. There's a little bit of wind noise. They say one of the reasons it sounds as good as it does is the turbo system as well as the cats help muffle the sound, if you did a whole exhaust upgrade you'd still probably want a muffler I'd assume.

If you ever get an after market catless down pipe, the muffler delete will sound like crap. There are sounds clips on the net floating around of cobalt ss/tc minus muffler, sounds ok, then with a after market catless dp and it sounds awful. Just something to keep in mind. I'm not sure how a muffler delete and catted after market down pipe would sound though.
