The wire looks like it is awfully close to the pipe.

Yes it does appear to be the factory cat.

thanks for that confirmation rj. I am thinking I should get a new maf. Anyone object? I can read my maf readings on scanner and it moves when air moves but I wonder if it's not reading it correctly or it's very sporadic with its air thats why my afr bounces. I have tried cleaning it. I might even do another boost leak test if anyone thinks that might be it still. It did feel like it took the computer way longer to pull code after new o2s.

Fwiw.
The AF readings on mine seem to do the same thing. All over sometimes and steady other times. No running issues with mine and no codes being set.
I've tried cleaning the MAF sensor...no change. I think it's something to do with the GMTU tune on mine. I just live with it and try not to turn the RPD unit to the AF ratio screen.........

GM is very specific on what to do for P2178. Attached are the pages from the service manual. It gives specific readings for the MAF and Map sensors. Maybe this will help.

Sounds like you may want to analyze the freeze frame data then. It could give you a clue as to what is going on. I could post all the conditions that must be met for P2178 to be triggered, if nobody has yet.

How long should I unplug the fuel pump fuses and let sit before I test to start to see if injectors are leaking?
