oil type conflict

oil type conflict

i have an 09 SS. manual says 5w-30, oil fill cap in the engine compartment says 5w-20. which one to use?

thanks. i have a full 5bottle of 5w-20. will it hurt if i used this for an oil change this time? im thinking since its summer, maybe slightly thinner wont matter.

Stick with the 5w30. The owners manual shows only that weight for use in the SS regardless of temperature.

So, I'm guessing that you have the wrong oil filler cap on there?

I used 5w20 for a bit, it was alright, but it sounded a tad louder as far as engine noise.

I think you are a little confused, if you believe thinner oil is for summer. It WAS actually in reverse. Thinner for winter and heavier for summer..
