So this morning i force feed a tea spoon on coolant under the rad. cap just for the hel- of it. take it for a drive and beat on it for 5 min.

Still running hoter than ever. I jump on the highway and slame 3 no lift shifts and get up to about 100 before layin off. prior temp 205 (unheard of in my SS) get off at the closest exit, Sit at a light , and see the temp at 196

What, so i drive on , 194 were it stayed for 5 miles till i got home, Pulled it into the garage and let it run for 20 min. max temp was 200.

Confused but happy its back to the norm. Maybe there was a burp in the coolant sys. (that lasted 2 days )

but i ran it a few times today and all is back to normal. ?

If it got a burp in a sealed system. There is a reason.. I'm sure you will be keeping an eye on it..

my 2 cents is I would think somthing is wrong if you never noticed the fan kick on unless you live in alaska haha, I dont have an ss but a 217 fan kick on is normal for my car on a regular basis 2.2lt. thats why the fan is there, i think it has come on hundreds of times you just never noticed, it should come on when you turn the ac on too. I dont think anything is wrong with your car probably just the first time you noticed, there is no way possible you sat at a light or anywhere for 2 or 3 minutes and your car stayed at 194 in my opinion. what about traffic, the bat hhr is fine!!!!

I went to the track last week and while waiting in the staging lanes I notice my coolant temp was at 206. This was just after a 45 minute romp down I95 but still 206 none the less.

I was seeing normal o 196-199, after the tune it runs between 199-205. I have seen the occasional 206-207 but thats it. Sounds to me like the thermostat got stuck, and a good hot-cold cycle might have released it.
