How would a new shifter cable affect the position for reverse? Wouldn't that require at least a new shifter assembly, if not a different trans?

Wouldn't habitual premature shifting into 5th gear cause lots of clutch wear?

Well last night I had to drive it and so I beat the shifter knob a few times and its fixed tge gear problem and doesnt smell like burning clutch anymore. So I will keep her and see how it goes.
But on a side note, now it is leaning to the left. It used to sit in the middle, not anymore. Can anyone verify that they did change the part number on the shifter assembly?
I still dont like how 5th gear isnt above reverse though. Itll take a while to learn the new placement.

Well reverse is in the old spot but all the other gears are closer to eachother. And its not really premature shifting. It has no problem going into 5th at 35mph. It has no lugging or slowness.

Burning clutch smell and you're OK with that? Not me if it was mine.

They wont replace it. Already been down that road with the first shifter replacement and i dont have the money to replace it. Might let it sit til it goes and just upgrade to stage 1.5

'Kay, just a quick update. Ive grown to like this shifter. Its alot more tight. Gears are closer so its faster to switch gears. Still hate 5th though but im try to use it only at the higher speeds, ie 45-50, so im not over stressing anything. :) but yea, this is how they should have felt from dealership. Js
