SS Won't Idle
The collision guy had the SS towed to the mechanic that I wanted to look at it. My mechanic hooked the car up to a diagnostic machine and said that he noticed really erratic airflow readings. He thought that the fuel "problem" was just the computer trying to apply the correct amount of fuel to an erratic airflow input.
Next, he followed the whole air path from air filter to engine intake, and noticed a large hole in the plastic input tank on the intercooler! The collision guy must have somehow knocked a hole in the plastic.
My mechanic patched the hole with fiberglass and epoxy to see what would happen, and behold, the car now runs fine!

Strange there were still no codes. That sort of thing would pop back up almost immediately. And knowing the code would have sent them right to "leak in intercooler piping". Not to "replace the high-pressure fuel pump, then if that doesn't fix it, replace the ECM". I'm guessing P0172 and/or P0171.
Even if it didn't pop back up a mechanic would have sense enough to look at the freeze frame left behind.
