Either way. That is a possibility. May be in need of that walnut shell media blasting.

The charge pipe has been almost welded to the throttle body every time I worked on it.

Best way I found was this:
1. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the throttle body and lower MAP sensor.
2. Remove splash guard for access to clamp on charge pipe to intercooler.
3. Remove clamp and charge pipe from intercooler.
4. Remove 4 bolts that attach throttle body to intake manifold.
5. Remove throttle body/charge pipe assembly from vehicle.
6. Separate charge pipe from throttle body.

After cleaning, reassemble in reverse order.
