You can pay me now or you can pay me later.

If it helps the Hyundai belts are know to go over the 60,000 mark but beware if and when it does break it will take the valves, pistons and head with it.

Also replacew the water pump too as you have to remove all the crap to get to it and they last around 100,000 miles.

Could be worse. The old Fiat we used to beat on recomended 25,000 miles on timing belts. They did not mean 26,000 as we tried and did not make it LOL!

Just to let you know my one buddy works for Hyundai and he bought a HHR. The stories he has told me. But that would go for any service department.

The truth is you can get one of these no matter what the make is.
Perhaps.... And I happened to have a hhr ss.... Worst car that I have ever owned. I have owned Fords, dodge,Chrysler, Jeep and Nissans.

This has been the most unreliable car that I have ever owned. Not good.

Just got to keep it in perspective as while you have had some issue most did not. You just got one that sucked I am sorry to say and it left a bad taste which is understandable.

Once in a while the odds hit you right up side the head while they pass most others by.

I went through the same things over a year ago. Loved the concept of the SS but mine just had to many issue to be worth the panic attacks and stress over getting just to and from work without being left somewhere along the way.

Good luck on whatever you get next.

Thanks Hippi!

I read your trials and tribulations on this forum. I love this car too.... but I can't keep bringing it back. Now previous problems are recurring!

EDIT: I see in your picture that you have a Scion XB! How is the Scion? Did you lower it, or is that the stock stance? Looks cute!

Yeah mine ended up with so much new parts trying to fix the cause of it all who knows if the new wiring did but not worth it anymore to me at that point.

Scion does "Release series" each year for there cars (xd, tc and xb) all have them. The 2010 RS came stock with the trd lowering springs. It is the only rs though that is lowered "stock". I love toaster #2 but I will say I miss the proformence of the SS.

Thats an understatement, every time I drive the panel after the SS, I think it is broke for a while, till I get used to the senery going by slower.

JoeSchmoe.....

Curious which activity/action frustrates you more.

* The inadequate/improper/incomplete repairs from the dealer.....or
* The new problems that occur from the manufacturer.

Also, did you buy the vehicle new or used.

I bought the car new.

I don't think that this is the fault of the service department. They have fixed what were the issues and the car has run fine for a short time. The problems have been numerous and only the last has been a recurring. However, even the waste gate solenoid lasted about 10,000km.

Waste gate solenoid @ 30k and 40k
High pressure fuel pump @37k
Vacuum pump @ 35k
And there was one more thing that I don't recall....

Several different issues. Can't blame the service department, in my opinion. Although they weren't as on the ball as I thought they should be, they did fix the issues.
