I understand that , but is it ok when your removing and installing for them to move either way a couple of degree's (very slight) ? as long as the timing marks all line up when together it should be good ?

A 2010 SS will have VVT. There is something special you have to do with the cam sprockets. I don't recall the procedure.

Thank you , you now when you loosen and then assemble they might move slightly since there is nothing to lock them in place . But all the timing marks lined right up and the marks on the cam sprockets end up in the same 10 and 2 o'clock position . And crank didn't move at all.

I have a question about this procedure , It say's cam sprocket timing mark at 5 o'clock which puts keyway at about 1 o'clock and the other sprocket(balance shaft chain) timing mark at 7 o'clock . Every other procedure shows putting the keyway at 12 o'clock and balance shaft sprocket timing mark at 6 o'clock , which would put the timing chain mark at about 4 o'clock . Which is the correct way ?

No it says put the crank timing mark at 5 o'clock, not the cam. The timing mark for the balance shaft set, on the crank, is at 6 o'clock. The timing mark for the cam timing set, on the crank, is at 5 o'clock. Are you saying the keyways are preventing this?

Sorry I may have confused everyone, I meant "crank" timing mark. Please click on the link from donbrew , It shows crank timing mark at 5 o'clock which puts the balance shaft sprocket timing mark at 7 o'clock(not 6 ) and crank keyway at 1 o'clock (not 12). Other articles I read shows crank keyway at 12 o'clock and balancer chain sprocket timing mark at 6 o'clock, that would make crank timing sprocket timing mark at about 4 o'clock not 5 . Which is correct ?

Yeah, I don't think that should be happening. The pic in my book shows the mark on the crank for the balance(at 6 o'clock). If you look straight up at the (cam)timing gear on the crank, the second full link to the right is the colored one. Does that make sense? Is that what you're seeing? Here's a pic.

This is how every article shows how to do it , but look at donbrews link illustration #1. See what I mean.
