stupid question but.....I went from stock 16's on my 06 to factory polished 17's all with factory tires, do I need an adjustment made for this? I thought I read that the comp would adjust itself, might be mistaken though.

I dont know if the computer can do that. Don't see how it would know the tire size you installed and going from the factory 16 to the factory 17 is acutally a big jump in diameter. the 215/50/17 is over 3% larger in diameter. Why would GM do that? Just to keep the ride quality in tact. Thats why I went with a 225/45/17 when I changed the rims.

No, it's not. As you go up in rim size, you go down in tire profile. (55 series vs 50 series vs 45 series)

195/65R15, 215/55R16, 215/50R17 and 235/45R17 are all within + or - 1% in diameter. No need for any computer adjustment. Your 225 tires are actually smaller than stock by 2%, so your speedo is high about 2%, which is totally acceptable.

the factory wheels on the 17's are about an inch bigger than the 16's I am just trying to figure out if it really matters

35k a year is not normal mileage so how can that fit in the scenario.
It is for me...over 30K in less then a year here. Remember, a lot of that warranty is direct relation to the quality of tire and it's longevity. In other words, a Mich HydroEdge with a 80K warranty is going to last a heck of a lot longer than Ted's Tire with a 10 K warranty...this sums it up

"Tire mileage warranties have become a popular marketing tool used by most tire manufacturers (and some independent retailers) to help position some of their tires competitively in the marketplace and to help indicate their potential longevity to consumers."

So the key words here are "potential longevity"...a tire with a longer warranty should last you a lot longer than one with a shorter one in theory. I understand what you are getting at that a lot has to do with the way you treat the tires but 9 times out of 10 the higher mileage tire is going to last quite a bit longer

I agree on the Exalto being an excellent tire..I had those on my Matrix and absolutely loved them...I just upgraded to the 17" polished rims from the 16's and without a doubt these Firehawks are pretty lousy as far as comfort and road noise goes...the Affinitys are a much quieter and comfortable ride (and that isn't really saying much for either tire lol)

Yeah you're right I was getting them confused with the factory 18s which are like 2.5% differance. Yeah my 225s are actually about 1.3% off but either way +/- 2% is where you want to so you dont have to reclaibrate the speedo.

I know this an older thread but I thought I got a good deal today, 4 Fuzions for $85.00 each plus $12.00 each mounting and balance and $2.00 each disposal fee, plus our local tax of course.

When I called I was quoted $104.00 each but when I got there the lady recognized me as the lady who cuts her hair's husband and said she could do better on the price.

Nice savings, really need it now being laid off

Looks like I am not the only one who has had tire sticker shock.
My LS came with the stock wheels from an LT, so they are the 17's
I am not sure I could same money getting 16"s for her or not.
I am 2 months away from a bonus, so I am pricing now...
