235/45/17 winter tire can i use this on the SS?

I can get a deal on these winter tires in this size. I know people recommend a little taller and narrower than stock for a winter but the price is so good I had to consider it. It's a little shorter than our 225/4518 and it's .4" wider. Will it rub?

Thanks in advance

Adam

I have the same size on my all season tires. I never have had an issue.

The stock 17" wheels are only 6.5" wide. Most 235 width tires have a minimum wheel width of 7" and some are 7.5". This doesn't mean you can't put a 235 width tire on the stock wheels but they will bulge slightly out and soemtimes you can feel a little squirm on turns. 235 is really wide for a snow tire on the HHR, you may lose some effectiveness because of it. 205 or 215 widths are the best option as narrower is always better for snow.
