245 on a 6.5 inch wheel?

I've been planning on getting a set of slicks or drag radials for my HHR SS for a while. I just found a set on base HHR 16's for cheap on Craigslist. I know people are running 245's on the SS wheels, but would a 245/50-16 be too wide for the 6.5 inch wide base HHR wheels? Thanks in advance for any advice.

that wheel is WAY TO NARROW for a tire that size!!

Best and quickest way to get accurate fitment info for tires, is to call the tire manufacturer or go to their website and look at their sizing charts.

You can get way to much bad info online from people that will tell you that certain tires will "fit" on a wheel, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they fit properly.

Way to often people put to large of a tire on to small of a wheel, just so they can brag about having a certain sized tire on their vehicle, when in reality they would probably get better performance on a smaller sized tire.

Manufacturers have specific size and load ratings for a reason. They could make a lot more money if they always sold people bigger tires, but they know it's not worth it.

X2, too much tire for that rim.

Check out this site, it's a super handy rim/tire size calculator, just punch in your data.

Yup, best to find what tires you want and ask the manufacturer. For road tires I doubt it would work out, but the more flexible sidewalls on drag tires, maybe?

I have found different manufactures make the widths different. Mount one see how it is, but a narrow 255 is still 9" tread patch, I think 1.5" each way is too much, even on a 50 series. It never hurts to take a look.

Yeah. I had a feeling that general opinion was going to be that it wouldn't be a good idea. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
