What the heck does it matter in the reality of today's world??

Let's make some "rules".....

My favorite: If you put fake Pep Boys Buick port holes on your HHR you MUST put the Buick logo on your grill. How's that?

I like the "Made in Mexico" idea, especially for all those that believe in "Buy American", too!!

Get a grip people!

Oh, and MANY years ago I had a friend that bought a late 60's Impala with a special COPO 427 package. Had the flags with 427 on the front fender. Plain Jane sedan with the little hubcaps and all....

He swapped the badge to a "283" one!!

Should have called him out on that fake!!

Like I said, obviously more than one school of thought on this. You subscribe to the "no harm, no foul, what's the big deal?" viewpoint. Clearly some others feel the same, so it's not like you're alone.

But also like I said, it's a polarizing topic, and I think when you put your HHR on an HHR forum, which is clearly a forum that's going to frequented mostly by enthusiasts, and go so far as to call your HHR an "SS clone" when it's not even close, you have be expected to read some criticisms...the OP actually brought attention to that aspect of his ride by calling his HHR an "SS clone". If you put your car out there for all to see, you should be able to take both positive AND negative comments. And I DO like what he did with his rims...the Cobalt rims have always looked sharp on HHRs of all trim levels.

I plan to get my HHR in the running for HHR of the Month one of these months, and as long as the comments are not mean-spirited, I welcome anything anyone has to say about my car, even if they don't like one single thing I've done.

Everyone that doesnt like it should keep it to themselves or can take one in the neck. Do what makes you happy!

My 2008 2LT has SS wheels - I dont care what ppl say.

Let me clear a couple things up for everyone.

First of all. YES i have massive wheel gap and I am working on it.

SS badges are on my car because I want them to be. Period. If you want to pay my payments you can take them off.

Devils950003 I know Im particularly upsetting you because you are very proud of your car and very rightfully so, it sounds like quite a sweet ride. As far as saving my money and "saving up for a real SS" that wasnt an option. Im 20 years old and married, Im working full time while my wife finishes college. Im not pulling the sympathy card but the fact is the money just isnt there. her car (very high mile honda) broke down and it was either stick $1200 into that or step up and buy a new (used with 7k miles) car. we got the HHR and even though its a middle of the road one, and we got a smoking deal (pays to know people) to me its a lot of money and Im very proud of it and in my eyes it might as well be a $60000 Mercedes and to tell you the truth thats how I treat it. I work very hard for my money, usually 50 hours at my main job, 5-10 at another and every side I can get, including buying, fixing, and selling cars. If you have never been in the situation you just plain wont understand. Lets put it this way. One year of college could have paid for an SS and then some. and honestly we just bought a house by being smart with our money and I would rather have a 2LT with $15 worth of emblems on it in my OWN garage than a real SS sitting in a crappy apartment garage. Priorities.

As far as performance, I could care less.... Im a mechanic and thus I work on and drive a very wide variety of vehicles and if I wanted a car to go fast it wouldnt be an hhr of any trim level.

basically I started a thread titled "Cobalt SS/SC wheels. Polished" not "Hey, Everyone give an opinion on my badges" lets keep on topic here.

I believe the existing posts cover all the bases.....in well expressed statements by the way.

People let it go.....it's his car, he can do what he wishes.

If you think "sticking" badges on cars is unnecessary you should visit the Corvette Forum. They have badges, that fit the front fender, for everything ...........supercharged, turboed, twin turboed, Jake, HP ratings, Z51 packages (it's amazing that owners think this is really something special, it's just a suspension and brake package, that's discontinued by the way), NPP, mag. suspension, etc.

To the OP...nice wheels, nice work.

Oh, and good luck with the rest of your planned additions.

Exactly Snoopy, its a free country and we all have opinions, I like the OP's HHR even though its "Not an SS". In the Corvette and muscle car community there are the two camps who will never see eye to eye. And I'll admit my blood pressure does spike a bit when I'm asked if my SS is a "real" SS 427. Once I take a few breaths, I show the person what makes a real one versus a clone, and then I add that there are some clones which are better than the originals.

I can relate to being young and poor and having to prioritize. I'm almost 42, but it wasn't so long ago I was struggling to make ends meet in my 20s...having to live with roommates...I didn't buy my first new car until I was 31, didn't get into a house until I was 34. I remember buying my mom's old Honda Accords off her once they had over 100k miles...she'd buy a new one, I'd buy the old one.

Like you, I also treat my car like a $60000 Mercedes (sad that some drivers who DO own cars like that DON'T treat them like $60000 Mercedes, if ya know I mean). But I don't kid myself...it's not a high-end automobile...I think it's a great bang-for-the-buck car that is a great all-arounder, but there's some cheap materials here and there, especially in the interior.

Obviously I have strong opinions on the badging (as do others), but you are right in that the thread was meant to be about your rims. And I dig 'em...and once you take care of the wheel gap, that'll be an even sharper HHR.

Being around custom and tricked out cars on a almost daily basis, for over forty years, I've seen it all, pretty much.
As to badgeing, or not ect., lets get real. Every person has a personal taste[altho some only in the mouth], and whatever they think looks good to one, will not look good to another. It's their car and whatever they choose to do it , is their business.
I really get a chuckle at the SS guys, that get their panties wadded up, over someone sticking SS badges on anything, much less a LT. Get over it! It's not your car. Do to your's as you like, but don't be knocking someone that likes to use SS emblems. As I have stated before on another thread, I've see SS emblems on a frigging lawn tractor.
I did like the porthole remark. True, very true.
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. That way maybe your[possibly low] I.Q., won't be on display. "Moon"
P.S. Oh! did I mention, I do like the wheels. Gotta be fun on the upkeep tho.
