Plus they tear up the road if there is no snow or ice. I actually totaled my first car due to studded tires. I had them on my Opel GT (the college I went to was on a hill in Staten Island and I needed them for it). I was coming home on the BQE highway, and I was psyched because I had just gotten a quote for headwork and a dual Webber set up, so I was driving faster than I should have. I tried to make a quick lane change to avoid missing an exit, and the rear of the car started to slide. The car went sideways into a guardrail and hit the drivers side. If it wasn't for the roll bar I installed, I would have probably been crushed. But it worked out, because then I bought a new 1977 Datsun 280Z with the first available 5 speed.

I put a set of them, 225/50/17 (one size bigger) on a month ago on my '08 2LT Panel - Still haven't worn the stickers off yet!
The only thing I noticed is the increase of roadnoise. Other than that I like them -really haven't gotten to drive in the rain yet....john

Having done my own research before seeing this article I too have picked up the Goodyear triple treads for the HHR. I passed on the ride and comfort ones from Goodyear and went with the TT instead. My reasoning is the water channeling is better on the TT and with all this weather being more of all or nothing downpours it's better to be safer out there in poor weather and have more control over the HHR.

Hands down I can tell you so far these are far superior to the Firestones that came with it originally. If any of you members are considering I set I too believe that these are a great fit for the daily driver type of HHR.

You can get cheaper tires for sure, but remember your family and your life is worth more than a poor set of tires.

Just had a set of Triple Treads installed yesterday on my 2011, to replace the original Firestones w/51,000 miles. Definitely feel more solid & a smoother ride.

I'm very appreciative of your tire reviews. While I'm currently running Michelin Primacy MXM4's in 18" on my panel (and very impressed with them), I'm always interested in the next tire purchase, especially if I can get a more aggressive looking tread pattern without much sacrifice.

Keep up the good reviews. I'm in So Cal also, so I may be sloshing around with you during our El Nino winter.

Tires have been working great in our current snow/cold snap. Very solid, predictable response to input on everything except ice. Work great in the rain also.

Had a flat a few weeks ago, and again was impressed with these tires. The sidewall is so stiff that it kept its shape and prevented any damage to the wheels. And I drove on the highway for about 10 minutes before I even realized there was a problem. It was the right rear tire, so the car was not pulling badly (and on the LIE in NY, the road is so badly worn that the car steers itself). By the time I got off at the next exit, the tire was in shreds. But was still driveable.

These past few weeks, NYC has had several major snow storms, and these tires really perform well. In rain, no hydroplaning (factory tires on my old Mazda 323 made it unsafe to drive over 50 in the rain). And on dry pavement, they handle well without much road noise.

Couldn't be happier

Price

I decided to investigate these tires since in the Spring I will need a new all-season set once I take off my winter tires. Gulp! Currently (11/18) a set of the 215/50 R17 Assurance Triple-Tred at Discount Tire, mounted and balanced, would be over $850.00USD. This is mounted to.my existing wheels, and does not include TPMS, since my "07 does not have them. Too rich for my blood, that is for sure....
