Rear Meats

Can anyone tell me what the widest rear tire size can legally put on a stock LS without rubbing issues ? Rim width would help too...

Very interesting thread. That is certainly an option worth considering. As far as width of wheels go, I don't want to put racing slicks on, just want to put some wider wheels and tires on the rear than the fronts to give it a vintage old school style. Without breaking the law and affecting any electrical components in relationship to the speedometer, abs, etc. Something over 8.5" ?

Is 8" the widest rim size they make for HHR's or are there wider ones ? I'm talking rears. I would like to put 18x8's on the front and 18x9's or better on the rear. See where I'm going with this ?
Or will this upset the balance of the universe ?

old school is cool but I would stay 18X8's just for the tire rotation availability to even out the tire wear

A member "harleysshhr" added some new Vette rims to his SS Panel..

18' in front & 19" in rear, IIRC the rear tires were 265, but he had to use adapters to bolt up the wheels, which gave more inner clearance..

Be wary on tire diameter if your running trac/ABS controls........

I am thinking of 8" wheels with 275.40.17 Ht 25.7" Width 10.8" front and 12" 315.35.17 Ht 25.7" Width 12.4" rear. Will an SS handle these? I'm not looking to rotate, other than side to side. Any help will be appreciated.
