Tire sizes

I just scored a set of HHR alloy wheels, 17" rims. My current tires are 16". What is the correct tire size? I looked in my owners manual and could not find a reference to tire size. A local yard has a you picket it and a sale today. the car it came off of was hit in the front a little heavy to the right side. The wheel wells had no intrusion but the air bags were deployed. I want to make sure I get the correct size.
Thanks
Ron

It can vary by car. There is a sticker on the driver door jamb mandated by federal law that staters the size and pressure that came on the car. However, a wheel with a 110X5 bolt pattern and 42 mm offset should work if it clears the brakes.
