Last ones I got: Sumitomo*HTR Enhance L/X (T-Speed Rated) 90,000 mile warranty.

They don't test out as all that good except in dry, but for $/mile I couldn't find better.

Before that I was happy staying with Firestone Affinity like came on it. Not what Firestone calls "OEM"; they cost $100 more.

Hey don, did you get those Sumitomos as 215/60R16" They fit the HHR okay? I know it is ony a 5% difference in tire girth, but OEM size is 215/55/16. Just wondering bc for that price you cant go wrong especially for a 90,000 mile tire

I found that 60 series tires are usually a bit cheaper than 55 series and fit exactly fine.

for prices on Firestone you can check with Firestonecompletecare dot com.

I drive like an old guy, so performance does not matter much. I buy $/mile only.

My understanding is that the later version of the Affinity tires do not wear nearly as well as the original version.
That seems to be confirmed with one of last HHR's I purchase 2 months ago.
A 2011 1LT with 23,500 miles and the Original Affinity tires are approx. 75% worn.
Also I hear that the Affinity's are at or near being discontinued.
They will have an AS replacement tire that from what I have read will be a better replacement but not quite as aggressive tread pattern.
It's called the Champion Fuel Fighter. Comes in several speed ratings.
Would not consider it a good snow performer from what I see.

Firestone Affinity still have a 70,000 mile warranty. Even though the Affinity tires that come with the car look to be the same as after market tires there is a difference, if you look at the specs real closely. I do know from experience that the Affinity OEM tires cost a lot more than the Affinity tire you get for replacement.

The only time I have had a tire get less than warranty mileage was my fault.

Goodyear has an Affinity line, also. I don't know anything about them, maybe the same tire.

That's strange as Firestone states that they will not honor any Warranty on tires that do not meet the following Time frame.

OE Tires ... DOT must show tire produced within 3 years.

Aftermarket Tires ... Dot must show tire Produced within 5 years.

That tends to show that the aftermarket tire is somehow better or possibly they are just following Car Manufactures bumper to bumper warranty?

Alls I knows is they sometimes list both and the 1 labelled OEM costs about $100 ea. more.

I had a cut sidewall on my 2008 and without any thought went to the dealer I bought the car from. They ordered an OEM Affinity and charged me about $200 for a $68 tire (if they had gotten the consumer version).

I did look at the specs one time and do remember a difference. Might have been the number of belts or plies, I just don't recall.

I found this, maybe it explains:
Need confirmation from those who knows for sure...... ??? - Motor Trend Tire Rack Tire & Wheel Forum

Evidently it's the "S4" designation.

I have a set of Kumho's that i have had for roughly 6 months and i really like them. They grip well and i had great traction in the snow and rain here in PA. I heard alot of good things about them but im not sure of an average cost. When i bought my HHR from the Subaru dealership back in October of 2015 i was experiencing message alert problems which we later found out my car had 2 different size tires on each side...whoever owned my car had no idea what they were doing. Needless to say subaru took the blame for failing to look at the tire sizes so i got my new set for free.
