BNR K04-GT2871(R) The turbo was suppose to originally be BB but there was a problem with fitment, so now its a journal beairng. Better?

BNR GT2871 Stage 2
The BNR Stage 2 for the LNF cars is equipped with a 400 BHP BNR GT2871 non ball bearing CHRA (center housing rotating assembly). The LNF K04 turbine housing is machined for the GT28 CHRA. The stock compressor housing flow rates are maxed with the stage 1 CHRA. The stage 2 compressor housing has a larger volute/air passage allowing for the increased volume of the stage 2 CHRA. The stage 2 is not 100% bolt up. Since the compressor housing is upgraded, there is no longer the built in bypass valve. These are things you will have to do in order to fit the Stage 2 in the LNF cars!

1.Aftermarket blow off valve or bypass valve
2.Custom intercooler pipe on the turbocharger side
3.Custom spacer with OE exhaust gasket (supplied with turbocharger)
4.You will need a good set of Drag Radials :)
This is what you get with a BNR LNF Stage 2 turbocharger.

•All new BNR GT2871 CHRA (all OE thread pitches and bolt patterns)
•Balanced to less than .5 gram/in2
•High performance 360 degree thrust bearing
•CNC machined turbine housing
•T3 compressor housing
•Fully adjustable from 1 bar- 2 bar wastegate actuator
•All stainless hardware and clamp plates
•1 year warranty

So I drove to BNR Supercars today and got my K04-GT2871 with the extension tip.

Brian was super cool and showed me his operation he has set up. I bet I spent a good 45 min to a hour there chatting with him. He told me he was really looking forward to working with the LNF crowd and from my own experience, would say hes a man of his word.

He also showed me the K04-GT2860's and while in the pictures he posts shows the size difference, in person you can really see the difference clearly between the K04 cartridge, the 2860 cartridge and the 2871.

He uses real Garrett parts, I seen Garrett parts boxes all over the place. Opened and unopened.

The man don't just make turbochargers for other cars, he uses them on his vehicles and he drag races. I saw (2) Mazda 3 GTX's (turbo awd), a Syclone, Typhoon, DSM, RX-7 and a car he is sticking a TT 2JZE supra engine into.

Here are some pictures of everything you get/need with the K04-GT2871 and mine has the extended tip welded on for the UICP.

Click to enlrage By the way the turbos are blasted to give it the silverish look, not painted.

Hey you're out there in AZ where all of the guys who have actually built their LNFs live so you'd have plenty of help!!

I hear you...I've got that voice telling me not to go crazy, but I'm telling it to shut up, and then there's the female version, and I'm just ignoring that one

congrats south on the new turbo!!!

got a few questions for ya.

1. according to your list, for the turbo you have,we will need to modify our(for the ones who have them)ic piping, correct??
2. total price 1200???

okay, you mentioned another turbo that's bigger than stock, but smaller than you have, how much is that one? and sounds like it's straight bolt on. will it work with my trifecta tune without retuning? thanks...

A little off-topic (and mods feel free to move/delete if so), but I was talking with my GM tech buddy who did my Stage install (we raced AWD DSM's back in the day) and we were specifically talking about this post. While I'm still fuzzy on the LNF's "brain", he said the fact that our cars actually correct AF's based on a factory wideband on the order of milliseconds that strapping on a larger turbo may not require further tuning mods (up to certain boost levels). Sounds a little hokey to me.....but I'm not that familiar with the LNF ECU. Maybe if the turbo were slightly larger, but anything serious and it seems total fuel map changes would be needed.

I know on my Megasquirt vehicles, I can give the ECU freedom to change my fuel maps based on wideband correction (and I assume the LNF ECU is probably light years above Megasquirt) so maybe there's some truth to his statement???

With our cars you have to retune with anything that you put on because the car has a "learn down" feature which willt ake you back to stock factory numbers

K04-GT2871 requires a BOV on the UICP (upper intercoooler pipe).
Its comes with hardware to make everything bolt on and space out right. You will use all you existing oil/water lines, some may need to be tweaked to fit. Cost $1200 with core

Accessories you get with K04-GT2871
New banjo bolt for oil inlet
Custom made spacer with 2 gaskets (manifold to turbo spacer)
Spacer for oil outlet tube with 2 gaskets, studs and nuts
Crush washers

The turbo that is in between the stock K04 and K04-GT2871 is the
K04-GT2860. Its is a true bolt on and uses our turbo both sides and machined to fit a GT2860 cartridge and wheels inside of it. All of your stock stuff will bolt right up, no BOV needed. Cost $950 with core

Re-tune is required with both K04-GT upgrades. Trifecta only charges a $75 re-tune fee if you already have a Trifecta tune since this is considered a major upgrade.

Link to BNR info for K04 upgrades, top part of page.
