After you cut the top rounded lip ,off the plastic panel, over the rad, close the hood, bend down and see where the air goes, at the top part of the grille. Straight to the airbox area, post haste. No muss, no fuss, no heat. I rest my case.
You can debate this all you want, but do your homework. It works for me, and thats really all that matters. Try it if you like, but until you can show me a better way, I'll stick to what I know, and not what I think. "Moon"
P.S. There were two ways to go, due to the layout of intake, ect, in the engine compartment. The way I did it[the KISS principal-Keep it simple stupid] and the way Batman plumbed his setup. I originaly planned on doing mine like Batmans[hench the airscoop, now bolted to my hood], but went with a simplier way. I may end up plumbing the airbox to the scoop in the future. My way the air is channeled up over the rad and directly into the airbox area, and quickly sucked into the turbo. Batmans is same principal, only plumbed different. HHRSouth's is basicly a modifed stock setup, with a slightly bigger, longer airflow route to the turbo. Any gains are not huge, any way you go,. "Moon"

Moon, just as you asked of Batman, let's see some pictures of your setup. I'm interested in seeing the spacer setup you have on yours.

Yep 3" tube all the way to the turbo minus the straight coupler to the turbo and cold air straight out the air box.

The restriction on the factory set up is in the pipe from the air box to the turbo inlet, that pipe has a nice pancake in it as you know.

K&N did round that part out on there aftermarket kit (but kept stock overall diameter), I just did the same thing but the size of the tube is increased to 3" from the air filter to turbo inlet and I'm pulling a little colder air right out of the lower fender behind the fog light. I did drill me out a few more air holes in between the honey comb mesh why I was down there.

I removed the panel for testing , And have decided to leave it off. I will be adding a bit of screen behind the upper grill , As it's now pretty open , And anything going threw the grill could hit the top sec. of the engine.

Whats the little black radiator thingy in front of the radiator, (oil cooler ) ?
I always thought there was only one there.

Maybe if you've done something custom to your intake , You can take a few pics , And post them in this thread.

Batman, that "black thingy" in front of the radiator is your A/C condenser.
