GM Performance Parts Turbo Upgrade Kit
I had this same problem if I remember the code is P0101. I was told that my K&N filter was causing the problem. After swappin the filter back to stock I still have problems. I've had the stage kit for almost a year now and the SS has never ran perfect. I had them solder and shrink wrap the connections, they installed a new turbo(cracks in housing) last spring, tightened hoses and clamps, dejon spring upgrade, blah blah blah. It just doesn't run properly, but when it does it's a blast. Right now it'll barely boost to 20psi, it used to hit 23-25psi. I have an 08 auto. Lately I've been losing boost a lot more than usual, maybe the cooler temps have something to do with it. Other times it won't go past 5psi. I noticed that when driving @ freeway speed if I stay in I the boost is still there but as soon as I shift to D and try to pass it has a noticeable loss in boost. Sometimes 12psi or 5psi or 0psi but not the stage 20-24psi.
http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...arts-C468.aspx has the Stage 1 kits now for $485. Although, I just paid $500 for mine at my local Chevy dealer. YAHOO!...........G.B.
Even if I do order from that GM Parts Direct and pay the extra $100 for shipping... it's still cheaper than buying here?
I don't get GM in this respect.
Not bitter, just well adjusted...
What I don't understand is how the US has a $650 MRSP and our dealer costs here... COST... is $815? What a rip off!

I got it done for a lot less. Anyway, stage 1 RULES.
Get it done. You won't regret it.
GM turbocharger stage 1
Glad to see you as a new forum member. I am sure there will be lots of questions for you.
Hi. I just bought a 2010 automatic HHR SS on 04/29/10. I have to take it back in a couples of day to install the GM turbocharger 1 kit. I need some informatio please> It is worth it and primary will it give trouble in my daily use? Also the automatic like mine from 250 that GM say has if truth up to how much it will go. And algo up to how torque will it get> I will appeciate your info. Thanks
Yes the turbo upgrade kit is worth it. It is the perfromance bargin of the decade.
No it will not give you trouble. That is if you are smart enough not to do anything dumb in front of a cop. I have had mine for over a year now and the only issue I had was a install issue for clearance on the T map. It was worked out and nary an issue since. The only real issues I have seen were install issues by dealers with a poor tech on the job.
Make sure who ever installs it checks the intake tuble clamps to make sure they are tight. Often they are not tight from the factory and can blow off with the extra boost. The Duratechs did the same thing.
The truth is the Auto has 235 HP in 1st and 2nd gear and 250 HP in 3rd and 4th. The upgrade will increase the power in all gears and you will see the same power as the 5 sp of 290 HP and 315 ft-lb.
The computer has torque managment that will protect the tranny. I don't recall anyone losing an auto here to this point. Besides it is under warranty.
Now GM has put this to under what is safe on power and torque. If you choose to go higher with other items remember the Tranny is the weak spot. Even though the engine could go a little more with no mods the tranny will limit out a little over 320 HP. Its life will be shorter after that point.
The bottom line is this kit is great and even better on the Auto as you will get the power you are missing in the first 2 gears. Also you MPG will increase under normal driving by about 1 MPG.
Stage 1 kit installed. Purchased from the USA (with shipping $520 Cdn), Taxes at border $68. Dealer installation, $200.
Weekend experience? WOW! Much smoother acceleration on the lower end with a nice WOW factor near peak rpm.
AND... my gas mileage was improved too!
I'm happy.
