GM Policy on Piston damage with Mods
As you will note this is not common and seldom holds up unless they have good proof. It is often at the dealer level and often another dealer just takes care of it.
You might get hit by a piece of a falling Chinese space junk too but so is life.
The bottom line is odds are on your side you will be covered and if you make any mods take responsibility for them.
Also if you are going to modify have a good working knowledge on how you car works. This will protect you if something does go wrong if you need to deal with the dealer and may also prevent you from doing something that may damage other parts.
If you go in to a dealer ignorant you may have damaged something and not known it or you may get a dealer that may pull a fast one. If you want to make changes know what they will do good and bad. Todays cars are bit like the old ones. Even somthing simple as a major tires change can mess up a vehicle anymore and set codes or damage parts.
Because I've had nothing but pinging issues ever since before any mods. I thought it was the fuel but I guess the OCTANE out here or quality just wont let it work right without pinging. I think a DD car needs to be left alone. I should know better. :)
I don't have any audible pinging but you can feel it surge slightly as it pulls timing every once in awhile. We only have oxygenated 91 out here.
But for the most part it's fine and runs great.
