I always have my act together. The splice kit is for the extra GM butt connectors they had to use for the (wiring) issue that doesn't exist. Those connectores are very expensive, like 20 bucks for 3 of them. They used 2 of them and the tech kept one. So yeah you shouldve got an extra connector. Those five hours you guys talk about is the tech trying to figure out why the car won't start. To save face with others that disagree with my actual findings, I'm not going to go any further than that. We can time the install on sat on Erics car. Souldnt take any longer than 1.5hrs. AI already have his program from techline. I have plenty of extra connectors so Eric wont need to pay the 20. Nut I wont use them...

Which butt splices are needed? Yellow, red or blue and does the kit include heat shrink? I have all this in my electrical kit, so if I come armed ahead of time with the needed goods, I could save some $ and headaches.

My install experience was similar because of the wiring issue. My dealer spent a great deal of time "debugging" the problem with the wiring since he went the color route.
BUT, since he followed the instructions to a tee and then the car wouldn't start, he considered it a warranty problem (after the 1 hour install), and didn't charge me for the additional warranty hours.
I would suggest that before anyone go into their dealer raising He!!, that you go in and suggest that the install took an hour, and the warranty covered install then needed some...... warranty work...... Maybe that will help ease the blow a bit. As far as the connectors are concerned, that should be a warranty issue as well, shouldn't it?

Question for More_Torque_More_HP

Bill, what happens if the modification to the lower sensor is not made?
The reason I ask is because mine was installed before the bulletin was put out and I don't believe the dealer modified it...... Is this something that should go back as possibly a warranty issue?

Hi guys, gettin ready to do the turbo upgrade sometime in the near future. Question for you guys that have it already installed. In stock form, 1st and 2nd gear are a riot, 3rd isn't too bad, but 4th and 5th are pretty doggy. Seems like it has a hard time gettin out of its own shadow in those upper gears. So, my question is, does the turbo upgrade kit address this? Does it give it more snort in those upper gears?

Steve, the butt connectores are pink. After they are installed they are also heatshrinked and when heat is applied, it creates a glue that seals the connection. I would not advise using any other butt connector. You may void your warranty. These connectors are very good at what they do, making a strong connection and keeping moisture out.

Thanks Jared
These are the same types I keep in my kit, but will heed your advice as to the warranty scenario.

I'm in the middle of this right now - My Dealer worked on my car most of the day yesterday. The dealer is now following the same road and has been great They too are looking to GM for the time. I have a loaner and they're waiting for GM to direct them. I know this is taking longer to finalize but this way the next HHR SS owners will have a much easier install with corrected instructions - that will only take an hour. I'm now just waiting for them to call so I can go have some fun.
