I am new to this car, having owned mine for only a few weeks, but if I understand this right the stock computer program will learn performance mods and bring it back to factory? So does the 9hp claim by K&N only hold true if you have the Stage 1 or aftermarket tune?

Never take the claim of a company as word. every vehicle is going to be different. I don't really look to K&N as more hp rather than having 1 filter for the life of the car which in AZ it's the best investment. K&N filter made no difference on my 1998 Z28 on the dyno. Even after the mods it mad no difference.

However, I did notice a difference on the HHR with just the filter but the stock one was dirty and with 16000+ miles probably was just bad anyways. So it gave back what I was losing, but like I said, here in AZ, it is just wise to have these filters on our cars.

I talked to a tech at K&N. He said he was not familiar with the GM upgrade. The K&N kit was designed for a stock HHR SS. He told me that it might actually rob some power and throw codes. I was wondering if anyone else has heard this; or is anyone currently running one now with the GM upgrade and could shed a little light on this? I would like to run the K&N, but I also don't want any problems or loss of power. Thanks.

I'm running the K&N filter without there piping and cover with 3" Turbo back exhaust with no problems what so ever.

I don't see the need for a 250+ dollar kit when the replacement filter is less then 50. Its not going to be that much better, and if you have a vehicle under warrenty all the dealer will do is use it as an excuse if somthing goes wrong with it. (I can't say I blame them either)

Also, don't worry Aaron Im getting that sway bar from you next!
