car would not start

i have a huge problem. yesterday i was on my way home and my car just shut off, the car was in drive and just shut off. i put the car in park and started the car again. thinking it was maybe that i needed to get gas. after filling up my tank. my car shutoff again, and was making this funny noise.
so i got home and my husband checked it out. he said something about the air condition was not working. So i shut off my air condition and my car was driving fine and than i turned it nack on and my car shut off and would not start. anyone have this same problem. i am assuming this should be coverd under warranty

Yeah, probably..

Sounds like it might be the A/C solenoid, if they're on the HHR.

We've never had anything like this happen, but I've seen it mentioned several times on the Forum. Whatever is causing it certainly should be covered under the Warranty, but the fact that it happens at all is rather scary! You could be in a World of Hurt if this happens while in the middle of rush hour traffic on the Freeway!

Sounds like the A/C comp. is not turning. Did you say that it runs ok with out the A/C on? If so then it's the comp. Yes it will fixed under warranty if under 36K miles & 3yr.

A/C off = OK.

Whatever the problem, warranty should cover (provided you're still covered).

Looks like the A/C compressor is locked up. should not be a big deal if they have a compressor in stock at the dealer. Because the comp. will not turn when you have the A/C turned it stalls the eng. With the A/C clutch off the pulley will just turn free. so eng. will run fine.

after getting my air conditioner and the serpentine belt my air conditioner does not work again. Its weird cause this time it blows out a little cold air when i am driving but when i stop driving it blows out hot air. This is just getting ridiculous a 3rd drive to the dealer in less than a month.

Sounds like they either didn't evacuate the system before recharging or there is a refrigerant leak.
