After much digging, I found some broken wires in the drivers side kick panel. I soldered and heat shrunk them. Now I appear to have no troubles. It looks like they got nicked when a previous owner added some wiring running to the back and then removed them before I bought the car.

Thanks panelvanman. Local shop spent $3000 looking for a similar problem on an HHR and found it above the driver's window. Don't know if that makes you feel good or bad but I'm glad your car runs

DId you use one of those open circuit finders that I see advertised?

No, I actually couldn’t find the problem and started just looking for out of place things. Stuff that didn’t match my parts car. I saw a yellow zip tie on the harness under the dash and followed that bunch of wires down into the kick panel. Something had been added to the harness running down that side and when it was removed the harness had gotten a little cut. It just so happened to shake the rest of the way apart. I don’t even know if the broken wire I found previously contributed to this problem.
