Well, finally installed factory fog lamps...

This photo was BEFORE I adjusted my fogs at all... WAY WAY low. The origin of the beam was on the ground literally 4 feet from the lamps.
I did my Cobalt a while back too. Headlamps on it were 6000K (cast a funny blue on white reflective paint in the road... wasn't a fan), and my fogs were 3000K-BEST for cutting through rain and fog.
I have a 6000K and a 3000K on my bike too
As far as burning up your housing, its possible. The factory lamps are 37 watts. 35W should produce less heat... essentially the wattage IS the heat produced. So, if you have 55W lamps in a housing designed for 37W lamps, you will make a LOT of heat. Again, melting the housing IS probable.

damn, that first pic is crazy! I deff need to adjust mine. they dont even throw light half the distance of the headlights.
my housings so far (2 nights of use) seem fine. they do get hot though. my friend has 55w's in his Yukon factory fog housings, and the outer lens as well as the inner housing is melted up. but his housings are like 2" in diameter where our's are 5" i believe, so hopefully being bigger will help.
did your fogs have 2 holes on the back with like a purple sticker over them? are u supposed to remove the sticker or leave it on?

Great info. This is the exact project that we'll be doing on my son's 09' Cobalt LT. Came nicely equipped, but without the fogs. He got the fixtures and I just found a dash trim with the switch. Just have to hunt down an electronic latching relay now.

If you have a round push-button fog switch, this type and size spade bit cut the perfect hole.
If you're triggering off of a parking lamp with a relay, I just used a cheap 30A relay I found in the electrical isle at Autozone... I shrink-wrapped all of my connections though.
If you're programming the BCM to work like factory, this is the actual relay you need for inside the under hood fuse box.
