2 way remote

Has anyone installed the optional 2-way remote fob? I guess it is not really an install since from what I am told it is just a remote you program to your car. It has a screen that tells you the car is running and is suppose to give a longer range. All that for $150.00 plus $50.00 reprogram. Is it worth it? I also take for granted that your old fobs will still work since you only get one.

I put one in. The programming was considerably more than $50 and there is another antenna
which has to be installed. If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn't have done it.
There is only a marginal increase in range and the benefit of being able to see your tire pressure on the remote ain't worth it. I would probably have gone with an aftermarket
unit like a Clifford. I have one of those on a Dodge and it starts the car at ridiculously
long distances. When I had mine installed, the dealer told me none of my old remotes
would work any more. I think I got hosed because every thing I have read says you can
have up to 4 remotes programmed for one car. We live and we learn.

If you want more range put the fob up against your chin. The fob wil use your body as an antena to increase range. It has worked with every fob I have owned, not sure why, but it does.

The fob against your chin makes your body into a ground plain for the transmitter in the fob, which is a complicated way of saying you become the transmitting antenna.

Thanks dr dots you answered some of my unanswered questions. As for the human antenna idea, I will probably try it. Another thing I noticed is that range is greater on warm days.

Oh great- now in 5 years they'll say that doing that promotes cancer in the chin like cellphones are supposed to cause brain cancer. Then someone will sue someone else for not posting warning labels on the fobs and get uber rich....
