FM static on startup

I've had a few problems with the cold weather and my radio, FM only. There is so much static with the voices or music that you can't really listen to it, when I first start it up. Usually if I warm it up first (remote start), the radio will be fine when I get in, but if I just get in and start it, the static is there. It never gets better during the whole 1.5 hour commute.

I don't understand why warming it up for a few minutes would seem to make a difference, yet simply driving it to warm up will get no improvement at all. I haven't taken it in, because I'm sure they can't reproduce it.

The car will sit all day at work, in bitter cold weather, and the radio will be fine for the drive home, with no warmup. What's the difference between sitting all day and sitting all night in the cold?
AM is fine.
any ideas?

Your radio/BCM needs to be reprogrammed with new software.
