You never stated you needed/wanted to keep onstar/chimes. So trying to offer cheaper options - which you did ask for.

Solid answers? Let's start with get the Lan-04. We know that will work and will keep chimes and Onstar. The steering controls are unique to the head unit mfg. Even then, some HU mfg's require a more specific adapter for certain HU's.

You will need to do some research on what is compatible with your HU. Prices for the steering adapter can range from $75 on up. Haven't seen much cheaper than that for the HHR

I Did state that from the first two posts giving all my info/wants/needs.

I meant a seller with the lowest prices for what I need, for it all to work correctly without hacking up my wiring.

OK, so the Lan-04 it is then.

I emailed Pioneer and explained what I bought and the car I have.

They responded with a phone number and said to call them, so I did.

But he had No real answers except to say check out Foums and see what others have done.

I asked about my steering wheel controls working with the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD HU and he said they had nothing for it but to use a PAC SWC?

So far, I have Not been able to find one that says its for a 2008 HHR.

Crutchfield told me on the phone, they have None for the 2008 HHR.

So were do I locate one?

I was Hoping to order this stuff from One source if I could?

Thanks for the Help/

Steering wheel adapter for the Pioneer in a Chevy.
PAC SWI-PS
The PS means Pioneer/Sony.

Oh, and to answer your other question, you will have to trim a Metra kit as well. I had the same head unit in a GMC Canyon truck with a Metra kit, and it required the same trim in the same place. It is just how the radio face pivots. It will touch, and sometimes drag. Just better for those little motors over time.

Putter,

Thanks.

That one you link too, at the Top of the window that opens it says- PAC SWI=PS (swips-oldversion - Steering Wheel Control Adapters and Interfaces - Sonic Electron - Windows.
Good Price.

But on PAC's site they say this-

"If you are using the SWI-PS on a Pioneer AVH series radio, the revision number of the SWI-PS MUST be 1.6.7 or higher to be compatible. Pioneer AVIC-Fxxx radios do not interpret radio preset seeking commands. This is a limitation of the radio not the SWI-PS. There is no correction for this unless it comes from Pioneer. Pioneer radios with Bluetooth feature, the steering wheel controls will not adjust the phone call volume. The phone call volume must be adjusted on the face of the radio. This is a limitation of the radio not the SWI-PS. There is no correction for this unless it comes from Pioneer. Only the AVIC-Z110BT and the AVIC-X920BT will support the Voice Recognition function "

So how can you tell your ordering a 1.6.7 or higher unit?

Wow, I need one of you guys to check my car out. I know nothing about the details of my system. Thinking it needs to be adjusted by a pro. I told my guy to set it so I don't kill it. I decided against the door chimes and steering wheel controls. I had the premium Pioneer package, it lasted less than one day. I bought an Alpine headunit, Alpine type R components for the front, and type r for the rear doors, 1000 watt sony 4 channel for the door speakers, and had two sony 10'' subs powered by a sony mono. Was told it was overkill, not sure I was told the truth?? Any thoughts? Todd (Uma)

I'm sure NOT the one to ask about Audio/Video stuff that's for Sure.

I am muddeling my way through here with this setup.

I plan on getting it all hooked up and working with what I have for now, then Upgrade the Amps.

I took that "temp" Alpine subwoofer back to bestbuy yesterday. I brought some printouts of online prices that were Half their price and said if you Match the price, i'd keep it, if not, start my Return.

Got my debit card fully credited, so I will be looking for a Better subwoofer now so all I will need to do is upgrade the amps later on for more Power.

I am still checking which harness I need for my steering wheel controls.

Stereo stuff Used to be pretty easy, Not anymore

I added 2 Testing pics to my gallery of the HU and headrest monitors hooked up and working, but not finished.

I basically have everything working With the factory 8" sub and the factory amp.

I got the 04 harness Crutchfeild INSISTED I needed for my HHR.

I think they just read a script from their screen.

Still unsure WTF harness is Needed to work the steering wheel controls. No one seems to make one, thats says it works with my HHR.

Putter was a BIG help to me in getting what I have hooked up, hooked up.
His factory system was different than mine so his amp/sub hook ups may be different than I need to do.

So at this moment just running the HU,door speakers, headrest monitors, and rear view camera off the factory sub/amp.

Gotta figure it out Soon though so I can have better sound.

I have the relay bypass hooked up so DVD's can be watched on the HU while driving. (Passengers use) and the kids can watch or play the built in games in back.

(Panel with matching ebony rear seat installed)

Everythings working, I just can't Crank it up like I want, yet.

I have done a few Mods and a few in the works, wheels/tires 3 have arrived still waiting on the 4th one, I have Both the Gold Line Levelers and the full Gold Line Lowering Kits, I will be Testing those out once I have all 4 wheels and see which way I like best.

I should be posting some pics of everything soon. I wanted to get these other things done beforehand but have been waiting on the wheels about 2 weeks now. No since jacking the car up to install the springs without the tires and wheels here.

USPS "package services" SUCKS!
