Just did a search on Crutchfield and these are the subs that come up as shallow mounts that might work.

Just wondering how well the flat subs work. In theory, the more air you move, the stronger the bass. If the sub is shallow, then there will be less air movement so the bass would not be as powerful.

That said, my single 10 inch Kappa shakes the car. I know a lot of you are using multiples and bigger speakers. I wonder how much is too much (and makes the music too bassey). IMHO the bass should be balanced with the mids and the highs, without overpowering the rest of the music.

Do you have the Kappa in the factory location?

Nope-tried that with sound insulation and everything but didnt get good bass. Wound up building an enclosure-pictures are https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...t=3464&page=14
It is the best I could do that would keep my trunk space, allow access to the storage compartments under the floor, and make good sound.
The factory sub location is now a storage compartment, great for bottles of wax, window cleaner, and other tall stuff.

Is there an update on this? I am debating having the back windows taken out and turned into a half panel. Having boxes built where the old windows where.

This was my first attempt at anything with fiberglass.. actually its not hard at all, I had a friend help me on my first mix, and after that I was on my own. There are plenty of good references online, try google to find some great walkthroughs. Of course if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them..

I will also be posting something of a worklog for how I did mine shortly. (just powered up system for first time tonite, works!!, no noise!! yay!!)
