2009 Brake Vacuum booster
Anyone here had to change it out? Can anyone tell me how to determine whether or not I have the active brake control? There's a huge price difference in the price of the parts with/without active brake control. I know mine has gone bad because just pushing the brake pedal down with my hand and listening under the dash- the hiss gets worse and it just popped a code. Looks like allot of things are in the way also, more curious if I have to break the brake lines to the Master Cylinder to get the Vacuum Booster out. Thanks for any advice anyone can offer. Happy Easter everyone.

Don't know what active brake control is, but maybe that would be ABS. you would be able to tell by the red ABS light on the dashboard everytime you start the car. To get to it you have to remove the fuse box, a huge pain in the A**. Probably worth paying a mechanic.

Reliability?
Looks like dealer is getting this job, too many things in the way as you said. Funny how brake boosters used to last forever it seemed, now you can get less then 4 years on them. Doubt I'll ever buy GM again.

I've replaced a few brake boosters over the years on customers cars. Various car brands. Boosters are usually a very reliable part. This isn't some kind of GM "problem".
Blaming GM is just wrong. You were just unlucky in the fact that you had one of the very few that failed. In fact, you may be one of the 1st HHR's that I've heard with this problem.
Want to change brands? Good luck. No car manufacturer is problem free.
