You would also need the SS caliper "brackets" to re-locate the stock caliper to the SS rotor size.

yes, I know that you have to get the SS caliper brackets along with the rotors and pads per the OP. I just wondered if anyone else has done this with stock 16" wheels. I've actually got aftermarket alu rims, but they are stock 16" (tires are cheaped that way), and there is only so much room.

Have you got a link to the Brembos? I'm curious what size they are. I just bought a pair of rotors from Advance that are the same size as what the OP mentioned (11.65"/296mm), and was looking to buy the same calipers that he mentioned. He said he got his in the stock 16" wheels, and I wanted to try to confirm this before I go buying the caliper brackets.
SS non Brembo dia 296 mm 11.65 inches
SS Brembo dia 315mm 12.40 inches and no bracket just caliper

Resurrecting a thread a bit, I decided to replace my pulsing rotors with the larger LT rotors. They fit just fine under the stock 16" wheels. I went with Akebono pads this time as last time I used NAPA premium pads and they were hard on the Ultra Premium rotors. Hopefully a bit more meat to the rotors will help lessen any pulsing issues. I've heard and read all of the speeches about pulsing and its causes, but for whatever reason, this car just has issues with it. I've never had this issue in any other car I owned/driven, so I personally think that the LS rotor is undersized.
Just thought I'd bring this back up for anyone else looking to do the same thing.

Ok I am curious. Why upgrade to bigger rotors but not the bigger pads? Wouldn't this just defeat the purpose? I am looking to upgrade to the ss front rotors myself, but I assumed I would be getting the ss pads as well.

My apologies for snooping and collect advise meant for others. Others, who posed questions and were rewarded with information. I've gotten too old to be much of a wrench anymore (it's hard to keep up with the changes made to our vehicles unless you work on them more than I'm now able). The resulting absence of work time my vehicles (2007 HHR 2lt, 2002 S10 & a 1990 Bronco II) doesn't lend itself to profound discoveries on my part to pass along as repayment. So I'm relegated to just pass along my thanks for said information and bid my well wishes to those of you whose labor of love on their HHR's produce advice and are kind enough to share it.
