Yes in ceramic for less brake dust. Actually I had just done another brake job about 2 weeks before the accident..... Now that I'm no longer driving in and out of Atlanta everyday, I was real curious the difference without all that hardcore traffic.

Life on pads has a lot of varibles, I was driving in and out of Atlanta daily, very hard on brakes. Just don't go cheap on parts. But the best you can afford and they will (should) last longer.

I use the GM Premium Ceramic pads listed for the HHR , aftermarket ground discs and the aforementioned used calipers brackets from LT1GMC, and the stock LS calipers, because of the size limitations of my 16 inch winter steelies and my summer WV Rally rims are also 16 inch

I did the upgrade from SS to Brembo. Brakes, are like throwing out an anchor. It's not like I did any testing, they look and stop great. Still not sorry about the switch.

07 - i got about 25k on my pads currently, they are ceramic pads, still life left on them just the rotors are junk. i bought the whole kit, rotors, pads for front and back from ebay/powerstop, rotors are slotted and i will never go this route again! i guess you get what you pay, rotors are warped already and i dont or havent been riding the brakes badly. I will stick with plain old centric rotors next time (since its my daily driver), but I would stick with ceramic pads, they seem to last longer and practically no brake dust. I just got my Brembo calipers in from a junk yard, found them on car-parts.com, but i tell you they are not in good shape! guy on the phone told me they were "nice" yea well NOT! i can see i will be rebuilding them, and repainting them. hell the pads are corroded so bad they are stuck to the caliper!

BTW - the full set of calipers i have i got from a previous member here who no longer has his SS. The calipers he said were taken off before 15k when he swapped to a big brake kit so they are all in really nice shape. He had a 5spd SS but i dont think there is any difference between the auto and 5spd as far as calipers go

I have decided to go ahead with the Brembo's.

I noticed with the CED kit they include hub spacers that, according to their instruction write-up, are used to center the rotor inside the caliper. One member here had shown a pic of it along with the other parts but said that it seemed to not fit so he went ahead and completed the install without them. He has not been on in almost a year so asking him for info on this is not going to work. Is there anyone else that has gone with the Brembo's that can say if they did or did not use them?

One of the two calipers is OOS currently at the place I would prefer to buy them from so I will end up getting the other sides caliper and my rotors soon(ish). At that point I will bolt that caliper and rotor up and check to see if I need them and if the shape of my spokes clear the Brembo's. That will give me time to order either type of spacer if I do need either one. But in the mean time, if someone already knows the answer please post it.

Nothing worse than that for test drive and you damage the hoses and have problems, I think the Brembo set up will be best seeing as you have the 20's giving you the room!
