I find that this is most noticeable driving through dips in the road, when both sides of the front suspension (and then rear) are loaded together... not necessarily over smaller bumps.

Noticed a few threads about similar noises in the non-SS models... but don't think I've seen any SS members mention this.

PS - no smart-a$$ comments from those of you who are fortunate enough to live in areas of eternal sunshine and warmth... especially you SoCal guys
yes, I do have the same noise that you described on my SS....

I should have mentioned that the bed spring noise (on mine at least) comes mostly from the rear suspension.
I sometimes also think it is from the rear, but at times it sounds like the RF...then again I have the TTR rear sway bar added on the SS, wonder if those 2 bars are rubbing over the bumps......

I just noticed some squeaky-bed-spring noises coming from my front suspension this week. It was the first time in a while that it was sunny (but cold, almost freezing), so I had my windows open going over some small speed bumps and the creaks from the front suspension were quite loud. If it goes away when it warms up, I won't worry about it, but it doesn't sound good.

I figured with a wagon I would get a lot of odd noises. But as of now the HHR is quieter than the wife car.
Maybe it's so cold that all the parts just freeze solid, not allowing any noise to be emitted!

As an FYI, my SS gets a squeaking noise under the dashboard when it gets cold, just to the left of the steering wheel.

Easy to solve tho, 2 screws underneath (point towards the sky) hold the panel in place. Once removed, pull down and back and it will pop the 3-4 fasteners at the top. Use the one sided felt tip pads with adhesive on other side(sold at walmart, ace etc for funiture etc) and put it on the top inside piece. This completely eliminates the loud squeek!

My car also makes the squeeking noise, but it is super loud when first started in the morning, but only gets marginally quieter as I drive. I have already had one shock replaced, and it is going back to the dealer again tomorrow to get checked out again (7th time since purchased in July) Not being able to drive my car for more than three weeks at a time before another service department visit is about to make me ill

Add mine to this list as well... And I would decribe it as more of a scaping sound like RDREDSS has mentioned. It is priomarily form the rears, but now is starting to do it on all four corners! At first I thought I may have a tire rubbing prblem because I had put on aftermarket wheels with my winter tires. Thought perhaps the ice was building up around the wheel-wells but that is definitely not it.

I wouldn't say it is nothing to be concerned with. You shouldn't have to feel that and listen to that nopise just because it is could outside! I have never had a car do this before. I'm going to at least call the dealer and see what they say about it...

They probably wont say much about it over the phone. I just got my car back a couple of days ago and they replaced the sway bar bushings (and one shock on the last trip in) and now my suspension is quiet.
