How much did it lower the front and exactly where on the spring did you mount the clamps?
Thanks.

I didn't tighten them on the front, I just put them on to see if they fit. They should lower at least an inch using one per side.

They will work on lowered springs too, but how low do you want to go?

They will work on any spring as long as you dont have a strut/shock in the spring center. Nice pics of the panel!! Mine was lowered about the same amount just using on clamp per spring. If I used two, it would be lower than the front and I'm not ready to deal with the front end.......just yet.

They will work on the front of the HHR WITH the struts. I may put a set on the front and take another pic. LS

Both sides should be measured in either case.

Flat, level ground is absolutely necessary if you are trying to measure something like fender gap down to a fraction of an inch. Pitch to the ground may cause weight transfer and that will affect the stance. Parking uphill on a driveway vs downhill will cause a difference. Also, if the ground is not flat, say 3 wheels are on the same plane, but one is higher or lower, can affect the measurement at all 4 corners. Even turning the front wheels will raise one side and lower the other due to the caster in the front suspension.
I still think the best way to measure is from the center of the wheel to the fender wheel. As long as you are on a flat and leveled surface, there is virtually no room for error. This is much more accurate then measuring from the ground to the fender since it does not rely on tire inflation.

I put a pair of clamps on the front, It only dropped 1/2" each side, no pic, because it's getting dark here. You can put your finger between the clamps, and the struts. I'll try one more clamp set per spring (F&R) and post the pic here tomorrow. LS
