Polyurethane Transmission Mounts

Hey guys I I just picked up some polyurethane transmission mounts for the HHR. I had to do a little digging but eventually found that the Cobalt has the same mounts as the HHR. I ended up ordering the TTR Cobalt 2.2/2.4 manual transmission mounts. They are not listed as a fit for the HHR, but they work perfectly. Install was simple and they come with easy to follow instructions.

I have about 20 miles on them. My wheel hop is gone so far. I was getting hop when I was just starting to roll in 1st gear and mashed it. Now I get smoother wheel spin. The car also feels like it is one solid unit now. The manual backlash is improved tremendously. Transitions between accel/decel are much smoother. I would describe the stock mounts as mushy after putting these in. The one downside is vibrations. It is a very noticeable difference at the idle range and taking off in 1st, but otherwise vibrations are really subtle. The vibs are said to lessen after a bit of break in, but if they stayed the same as the first drive I would still not complain because the car feels way better to me, but I don't mind a little NVH.

Here are a few pics of the mounts:

TTR Bushings pressed in.

R&D stands for research and development, write that down.

Nice try, we were the first to offer a poly mount for this housing. Been in production for nearly 6 years.

Did you see if your bushing would fit an HHR?

No never stated it did, this member looked it up, thought they were the same, ordered and tried. And it worked.

We do not have a HHR to test fit these on. No modifications needed, per the poster above. We take no credit on this fitment check, he was just sharing/passing it on.

I'm not saying you took credit for it, I am saying you COULD have, via R&D.

Geez! These things have stopped my wheelhop so much. I am really happy with overall car feel performance wise. Though I will say, after putting a few more miles on the car, taking off in first gear and various low rpms (800-1100rpm) does send vibes through the car. Idle is fine. The vibes are at low rpms with an engine load. At all other rpms it feels totally stock.

I had traction bars installed with my old stock/poly mounts and they helped alot with wheelhop, but they were just clanky as hell and people always asked what that noise was(sounded like the sway links were bad). I pulled them off since I installed the TTR mounts and its nice not dealing with the jarring of the road going straight into my sub-frame. I had a chance to thrash the HHR a bit on dry and wet pavement yesterday and wheelhop is almost nonexistent. I am going to compliment the trans mounts with the TTR solid engine mount after I finish up a few other HHR projects I have in the works.
