Trans Flush

Trans Flush
I have an 08 LT panel with an automatic trans which I understand is sealed, at what mileage is it recommended to take it to the dealer to be flushed and a new filter if that applies?

I just got mine done at the dealer when i reached 100k. I tried taking it to two other places and they did not want to touch it. The excuse they gave me was that when "shops" do the transmission flush they only flush out about 60% of the fluid and since it has 100K miles they advised the dealer would do a 100% flush. Not sure what the process was but they flush out ALL the fluid and clean some screen that they advised doesnt get replaced just clean
When i went to the dealer they told me the same thing that they go through a process that pushes out all the fluid and other shops wouldnt do it. Shops don't tell you they only empty out 60%

I asked my local dealer about this process. The screen they are talking about is the transmission filter. The dealer stated that they use the machine to suck out all the fluid, and it cleans the filter. They also stated they do not drop the trans pan either. So how are they going to change the filter if they do not drop the pan? They had no answer.

If you think that dealers have some special "magic" that the independent shops don't have, then you folks are sadly mistaken.
Any good independent shop that has a flush machine will do the same service that the dealer would.
As far as "the flush will clean the filter", well that's just a bunch of saleman bull****.

BG, Snap-On, every tool company with truck sales.
Any shop that doesn't have a machine is a friend of mine. They charge a lower hourly rate usually. Somebody has to pay for the magic machines.
They also sell power steering flush machines and engine flush machines.
Interestingly enough GM put out a TSB AGAINST using any of those flush machines, but dealer service departments have to make a buck so they ignore it.
But still, why not just use the search tool and read all of the other identical threads?
