Here is a thread on RPO build codes. This only helps confirm the switching to the LE8 in 09 since GM used the same VIN letter for the same engine code in the HHR regardless of any changes to said engine model. I.E. the L61 from 06-08 is a D for the HHR even though the 06 is a Gen 1 L61 and not a Gen 2 L61 like the 07 and 08 have. My 03 Saturn Ion has a Gen 1 L61 too but the VIN letter is F.
