Angry Back hatch door height and width

Hello everyone. I have been trying to find out the size of the back hatch opening n the HRR. I haul pet kennels and am interested in buying an HHR but no where on any website can I find what the dimensions of the rear hatch door opening is. Can anyone help me?
Thanks very much, Jan-New member 10-18-2013

This old picture may help. I just took some quick measurements of mine and added to the pic. (photoshop wiz I'm not!)
Just remember that the hatch open isn't square like your dog kennel probably is. I took multiple measurements to show how the opening size varies. It really narrows up at the top alot. The bottom narrows too where you see the trim curves.
Hope it helps.

That looks like a custom cut carpet. How do you keep it from sliding forward ?

It's a $35 rubber mat made from recycled materials. It was rectangular shaped and I just cut and notched it to fit.
Being rubber backed, I don't recall it ever sliding forward. Plus it is pretty heavy. But. It usually has a set of golf clubs and my car cleanup bag holding it down.

FWIW, a postal service pallet will fit. They have legs set an couple of inches inboard so they fit between the rear cover hingey thingies. Standard wood pallet won't fit because of those couple of inches on the bottom. A half pallet will fit.
