Do I have remote start??

2007
IF, the remote start is activated in the DIC AND the purple wire is somehow grounded (either with a factory installed hood switch or DIY)
Or, you have code AP3 listed in your glove box and you have activated remote start in the DIC a 3 button remote will work
1) press lock
2) press lock + panic
on the inside the "start" button connects the lock & the panic. the guts of the fobs are the same BTW.
New cars came with 1 4-button remote and 1 3-button remote, used cars come with whatever they come with. The fleet/rentals came with just the 3-button, or none.
This applies to pre 2009 anyway. If you do not have remote start option in the DIC, SORRY, requires a new BCM software flash.

I have a 2007 HHR with the 4 button remote. When I follow the procedures to start it: lock and then 4 seconds on the remote start button the lights flash after 4 seconds, but the car does not start. Makes it look like everything is there so I was wondering if it is deactivate. I do have the manual, but I can't find anything about activating the remote starter.

Thanks, I couldn't find that. I assumed it would be near page 102 somewhere. Think the issue is probably the canister code that I ordered the part for. Unfortunately it was 100 miles away in Des Moines and then got shipped to Louisville. Not a huge deal, but I was planning of flipping the car, and wanted as much working as possible.
