I corrected that in my post. Actually I paid $9.99 at Strauss Auto, so each one was $3.33.

I stopped getting annoyed at that, and take it as a compliment in a way. You see, the same person that designed the PT moved to GM then created the HHR. So, as I see it, the PT was the primitive prototype and the HHR is the much improved finished version. And that is what I tell people.

Of course your suggestion led me to this place: http://www.asseenontv.com/

I wonder if they have one of these for wives.

The shipping is what kills me about these products. They have outlets at some malls with the As Seen On TV products. A lot of them are great, while others look better than they perform in real life.

The problem I faced was trying to figure out where to install the light. I had to use velcro so it would be removable, and velcro does not stick well to the headliner. The LED bulbs are harsh to look directly at, and may be bad for your eyes so I did not want to attach it to the dash or windshield. The inside of the handle is hard plastic, but I needed a spacer and a way to off set it so the panal would fully close. And thus my design.

I agree 100% with the Dome Light. Why would you put it way the heck back there!

The way GM put the light, it is great for people in the back seat. The problem is that the lights under the mirror are useless for the front seat occupants. But the sunroof is where a proper dome light should be. They really should have put it in the panal with the sun roof controls. With my light, it can slide forward with the sunroof panal to any location that you need. Or you can remove it so the driver is not bothered by the light at night. Plus, I can move it under the hood when I want to. (It would melt if you left it there when driving.)

I'm thinking of putting some sort of nifty lighting just inside my headliner around the sunroof like mood lighting to see if that does any good.

I changed out my mood lighting just like my dash lights to blue LED's.

Mood lighting is nice, but I wanted something functional for reading directions and things. And the factory lighting just didnt cut it. (But I did do a nice little mod that I am rather proud of for illuminating my window controls)

Was a bit of work, but I molded in a blue LED. Works great, and none of the annoying glare from the overhead light.
Before anybody asks, that red light on the side of the console is the rocker switch that controls the light. There was not enough voltage in the light wire to trigger a 12 volt relay, so I couldnt make it go on with the lights automatically.
