A National Run

Announcement: National HHR Meet: Summer 2007Posted: SoCalHHRs @ Mon Oct 23, 2006 12:31 pm
Many of us discussed this months ago on another site, so I'll throw it out again: how many are interested in a National HHR Meet in the Summer of 2007? If so, where should it be held?
I'll throw out the first suggestion (same place I offered up last time!):
Oklahoma City: I feel this Mid-Western location would allow for the largest gathering of HHR owners from all states. Driving distances will still be considerable for those on the coasts, but it is a more even spread than say Laguna Seca (In Cali), or Denver (we discussed previously).
Please post your thoughts and possible alternatives.
It would be great to get some
so we can move ahead on the planning as soon as possible!

No matter where you have it someone will not be happy with the location or will not be able to attend for what ever reason. The best anyone can do is put something out there and hope people can come. I for one can not make the drive to OK, there is no way our family (5) can drive 1300+ miles in the HHR it's just not practical.

Bragging rights, too many location issues, so now I need a second of everyones' time...First a "National Run", that to me means a large run with enough activities to make it a vacation destination, please a large group and their families...Jimz if you have the opinion that this is about bragging rights you simply don't know me...There is no "rules" for this mythical National Run, a central location, I believe that the most central location is somewhere in the middle of Kansas..now not to insult anyone from Kansas, but I don't have the access or the knowledge of Kansas to put on the activities necessary to make a large run fun..I can not believe that when a group is willing to do the massive amount of work necessary to put on a class event that we hear so much desention...The run destination will be decided by the commitee putting it on and if you are willing to make the drive fantastic, but must we try to destroy a run because the location doesn't seem central enough to you? The National has been discussed to dealth, now there is a group of interested people dedicated to putting on a run for the fun and fellowship with as many HHR owners as possible...the location doesn't suit you feel free to step up and put one on where you feel, but maybe we could stop wasting valuable space and time because we missed the rule about the geographic center of the US...I apologize for the rant, but it seems like there is some need here to have this please everyone and it ain't going to happen...
Well this (national) thing that we in the mid central are workin on is NOT for braggin rights its because we like to have fun and love the hhr period!! we are gonna do it in one of 3 or 4 places we have discussed among our regions people at the last run we had and we will state where and when sometime in early Jan. Believe me no matter where it is or when it is, it will be a good time for all that attend!!! CAUSE THATS HOW WE HERE IN THE MIDCENTRAL AND SURROUNDIN AREAS ROLL!!!! So when we do post the exact time day and place all will be welcome no ifs ands or buts!! thank you!! Oldschool out baby!!!

I agree with you. I will post my response from another Forum about possible locations for a National Meet, and it just my opinion. It was in response to a post by Mike of SoCalHHR who was just looking for feedback. He hasn't planned anything yet to my knowledge and it was not an attempt to derail anything. This is what I said:
I think it is a great idea. I did a mapquest search and it is about 1100 miles for me from Charlotte, so it would take some planning. It is a pretty central location for the US, but I have also been watching the other site and they are looking at Wisconsin.
Where ever it ends up being some people will be unhappy with the choice. Someone said something on the other forum about planning. It will take a dedicated group of people to pull this off and I will live with whatever that group of people decides. They will be doing all of the work and they need to be excited about the location and opportunities it presents. It is not worth worrying about. If asked I will put in my 2cents but life is to short to worry about such things to me. John

This is my mapquest search for Wisconsin Dells. about the same distance for me.

Good Luck to everyone and please remember we are all after the same thing here, an opportunity to get together at a national level with other HHR owners.
