No crank no start problem

I have a 2008 hhr 2.2 it quit on me and will not crank over unless I remove the 26 relay pwr/trn it constantly clicks as well had it scanned and came back with 8 codes. Just wondering does anyone know what that relay is for or have any suggestions on how to fix?

Welcome to the site, first what are those codes?
any knock or crunching noises?
have you inspected the underhood fuse box?
how old is the battery?
Does the alternator charge?

Relay 26 is a 4-pin, and could be installed backwards. On my 09, it looks upside down, so to speak, viewed from the front of the vehicle.

1. the engine stopped while driving down the road
2. it would not turn over
3. you pulled the #26 relay and it did turn over and start
4. you replaced the relay and now no turn over
5. you pulled 8 codes but didn't think they were important

Correct?

All those codes mostly show when there is a low voltage issue, corrosion at and ground wire , battery terminals
Codes start off with capital letter then 4 digits , like P0128.

It makes sense that those modules would not have power if the pwr trn relay was not connecting. If the relay is clicking then it is either bad or the trigger signal is not right.
Relay #26 feeds Fuses #33, #41 and ignition #45. The signal comes from the ECM, power comes from the large red wire on the side of the fuse box ( that connection has been known to loosen/corrode).

Has the ignition switch recall been done? https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gm-r...-status-50716/
