Just food for thought.

I had a Cruiser and liked it. It had some typical Chrysler mechanical issues that I would not put up with. When I saw the HHR, I had to have one. I really like the HHR much better than the Cruiser. The Cruiser is a pretty car, but it has some issues with the mechanics. BUT, you should go to the Cruiser sites and read what they had to say about the HHR when it was introduced and what they say now. It ain't a pretty sight ! I once suggested on a Cruiser site that we have combined cruises.........man did I get put in my place!

I own a 2004 PT Cruiser and I replaced my 2003 Mazda6 with an HHR this past March. I love both cars and feel very fortunate to be able to choose 1 or the other to drive. When people ask me which I like better, I tell them I love my PT and I like my HHR a lot (that AC noise is really getting to me). Both are fun cars which get a lot of second looks. So just enjoy your car and be grateful GM finally did something right.

Well I'm not one to bash any car unless it's for fun. I have several friends who own SRT4's and they hate it when I refer them as Neon's, but they all admit it IS a Neon with an SRT4 package, and they will smoke almost anything.......in a straight line.

I don't bash PT Losers but the truth of the matter is I've never liked them, I personally think they're pretty ugly and drive like crap. I got the honor of driving my buddies PT from Seattle through the mountains to southern WA and in corners I thought the darn thing was going to topple over, the PT suffers from the same thing the Neon suffers from....a crappy suspension. As far as Chevy capatilizing on the PT Loser's success it could have gone either way. The HHR has been on the drawing boards for several years now, and yeah, I'll bet one of Chevy's reasons for it's release IS because of the PT's success, it's a great market. But I'm sure there were other factors involved as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the PT and I mean no offense to those who own one. But it's hand's down that the HHR has better styling and suspension, but I will admit. The PT is powered by one of the best 4 bangers around and the Echotec has yet to prove itself.

As HHR PNOY said: a turbo PT will smoke an HHR hands down. Well Duh, we're not comparing apples to apples now are we, let's see what they can do against one another in their NA form. Heck I don't know, I've never raced a PT, but would relish the idea anytime for kicks.

Hey, I don't care what you drive as long as your happy. And being a car person is what it's all about anyway. Heck, my other car is a Daewoo (now Chevy Aveo).

If you will take your HHR to the dealer and let them address the noisy A/C issue on the TSB it will cure this complaint in a "Heartbeat" (no pun intended), mine too was noisy. But after a compressor replacement (didn't fix the problem), then a second visit to replace the hoses etc. per the TSB, all is cool and quiet now.

This is a great thread. I visit many car forums, and to be honest have seen more bashing here than any of the others I have visited.
I brought the idea up of a local Meet and Greet in Silicon Valley/Northern California to the PT Cruiser crowd and they thought it was a great idea.
