Power outlet spins in place?

Hello all, sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I've been having an issue where my front power outlet spins around in place, making it difficult to plug things into it, seems prone to blowing fuses, etc.

It didnt seem like it wanted to pull out or anything. Just spin.
I took it out and this is what I ended up with. I don't really see anything broken or missing. What do I need to do here?

Replace it. They are not likely a repairable part.

Or a little drop of super glue on the rim as you snap it back in place..

Blowing fuses is a symptom of somebody thinking it is a cig lighter. There is supposed to be a cap that takes up some slack between it and the dash in some years; other years had the cap part of the retainer. Either will work. You can get a new retainer and power outlet from GM for less than $10. You may need to get the parts guy to look at the REAR console; I can't find it listed for the front.

For some reason they only list a cig lighter for the front. As far as I know, that was always an option. Still cheap. https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/auto-p...-switches-scat

I really like this idea.A little pricey but may be worth a couple chuckles.

Ooops didn't realise it was an actual working cigarette lighter.Oh well they sell other"dummy" plugs like this.

You can replace it with a real cig lighter. They didn't come with the car except special order with an ashtray that sat in the cup holder.

Probably true for some years Don.
Funny thing. I special ordered my SS. I did not order the Smokers Pkg. But when it was delivered it came with lighter and that cup holder ashtray.
I guess GM was trying to unload some of those pkg's from their inventory.
My window sticker actually shows Ashtray and Lighter under Standard Equipment
