Question Rear Wiper

I have an '08 HHR LT and have been told this is normal....When the rear wiper is on...the wiper - not all the time - jumps up from the starting position (park position) anywhere from a 1/4 inch to an inch. Have brought this to the dealership's attention and they have said they have compared it to others and the same thing. Does everyone else have this same occurance? Also when the wiper is turned on does it wipe like it is intermitant or continually wipe like the front wipers? I know the switch has 2 settings...on and intermittant...but one just seems to be longer intermittant. Please respond.

I think the jumping you're referring to is just a bit of slop in the wiper mechanism, the wipers always have a bit of play in them. There are two intermittent settings on the rear wiper switch. The left side of the button will give you the regular intermittent setting while the right side gives you a longer delay. There is no constant "on" setting for the rear wiper. Hope this helps.

You talking about where it stops when you shut it off? Mine is up about 1/4 inch when I turn it off. I just kind of push it down with my hand when I wash it each time... Have to do this with the wipers on my truck too. Normal, but it looks goofy.

I have never even used my rear wiper...
But it's modified for easy cleaning.. Anyhow it's there just in case..

Maybe shaved later..

rear wiper.

This doesn't happen when I turn off the vehicle. And no not with any build up of dirt/stuff on the motor arm. Even after you wash the vehicle and start your HHR, flip the rear wiper button to the left. When the arm swipes...not every time....but on SOME swipes the wiper will pop up from the original spot about 1/4 to almost a full inch. This doesn't seem normal.
