My remote start and my FOB work from a very far distance which surprises me. I can hit my HHR from at least 100 feet easy. Very cool.

@Ogre Ralf, if you’re still in need of assistance with the location of the receiver please, send me a private message with the VIN of your HHR. I would be happy to look into this for you.

Why would it necessary to know the VIN in order to research the location of the receiver? The module that contains the receiver is located on the seat back cushion latch bracket which is behind the left rear quarter lower trim panel. You have to remove the rear seat to get to it. If you replace the module, the new one has to be programmed.

The receiver for the FOB and TPMS is indeed located above the headliner near the center rearview mirror. db/sb's location/directions is for the OnStar/cellular receiver.

No....db/sb's location/directions are for the RCDLR (remote control door lock receiver)....I really wasn't sure which receiver Ogre Ralf was referring to. I know this thread was initially about auto start but when he awakened it I thought he was talking about locks. I may have been mistaken.......

I apologize if I have upset you, db/sb. Per my business guidelines, I need to have a VIN to exhaust my resources for things such as this topic.

According to my 2009 FSM the RCDLR and the TPMS receiver are the same device and is located above the headliner next to the rearview mirror. Perhaps the early year models were different, such as your 2006?

You, sir are correct. After furter research:

From the 2006 manual:

Remote Control Door Lock Receiver

Procedure
•The module is secured to the seat back cushion latch bracket with three integral tabs, pull away from the bracket to remove.
•Disconnect the electrical connector.
•Reprogram the remote control door lock module after installation. Refer to Control Module References .
From the 2008 manual:

Remote Control Door Lock Receiver

Procedure
•Disconnect the electrical connector.
•Unsnap the receiver from the roof front header panel.
Perhaps the change was made when the 2 way remote became optional in 2007.

db/sb,

You are 100% correct for the question asked. Ogre Ralf's vehicle from post #13 is a 2006.

According to my search of the online owners manuals TPMS seems to have started with the 2008MY, perhaps that is when the change occurred.

We both learned something today.
