Mine always worked in my 2007 LS 2.2 , all four seasons!

go thru the DIC and turn RVS off for a couple of hours then turn it back on, maybe there's a glitch in the software

Hi Oldblue, I changed the oil yesterday using OEM oil filter and shut off remote start from the DIC, car continues to run great no issues, or CEL on and/or stored. I left the remote start off since yesterday and turned it back on today after getting breakfast, still the same result, the car will start but shuts off after about 10 seconds, any other things I can try, guys please let me know, thanks Mark.

Hey guys I was wondering that remote start hack that I read about grounding the purple wire from the BCM would that work on my 2007 Chevy HHR Lt. I do have remote start already as you know but the problem is the car will start with remote start but will shut off in approximately 10 seconds so I thought I would try grounding the number #3 purple wire at the BCM the see if this makes any difference what are your thoughts?

I do not suggest that you do that, could short out the BCM and that would be expensive to repair. At this point I do suggest you check ground wires and see if any are loose or corroded.

ONLY works on 2008 models.
It is the sane as grounding the wire on the hood switch since the other wire is already open with no hood switch.

Hey guys, I wanted get your thoughts on this, I removed the panel in front of the BCM on the passenger side and just tightened the one 7mm bolt in the middle of the RED BCM connector which after tightening this down I tried the remote start the car started and continued to run. I then shut it off with the key got out of the car locked the doors and tried to remote start again this time the car started and then shut off in about 10 seconds. I then unlocked the doors got in the car put the key in the ignition and just recycled the key meaning I just turned it to the on position and didn't start the car, took the key out locked the doors and used the remote start again this time the remote started and the car continued to run no issues I repeated this process at least five times and the car will start with remote start then shut off then when I recycle the key and try remote start the car will start and continue to run The only thing I did was tighten the Red connector with the 7mm bolt in the middle, tightening down as hard as I could not too hard because I didn't want to break it. I'm thinking I need to disconnect the battery and disconnect all connections to the BCM and then re-connect everything. Please let me know what you think about me doing this, thank you Mark

If it’s working now that you tightened that bolt leave it alone, enjoy the ride!

Hi Oldblue, I would like to leave it alone and call it a day but the remote start works intermittently if it worked all the time I wouldn't even touch it, I just wanted to get your thoughts on just disconnecting the battery and disconnecting the connectors to the BCM and reconnecting everything I don't know if that will make the remote start work consistently but I wanted to give it a shot and to get your thoughts on doing this and any other suggestions you might have to try, thank you, Mark

You can disconnect, inspect, clean the contacts and reassemble that connection, if it makes you happy, sure. Yes, disconnect the negative cable at the battery to avoid shorting out to ground. Then you’ll know you got that problem resolved.
