So long, dear friend

I said goodbye to my 06 2LT yesterday. It was a great car-very little "needs" while under my care.
Bought 12/31/07 with 32k
traded-in 7/7/12 with 127,500
4 1/2 years, 95k miles....we had a good run.

The dealership questioned me 2 times about the accuracy of the odometer....yes, it was that clean.

For those who are curious:
I didn't disclose how much I still owed....they offered me $5k. Based on past offers, considering the mileage and knowing how hard it is for a dealer to sell a vehicle with over 100k on the lot, I thought it was fair.

I bought a 2005 Silverado 2500 HD crew cab 2WD with the Vortec 6.0
we needed a truck, and I had to finance with a certain budget in mind.

I am very happy with my new(used) truck....and so is Brenda, who ultimately will be driving it daily.

Now I have to go outside and see if the new truck has XM-ready factory stereo...it's got the BOSE set up with rear audio controls and 6-cd, just not sure if it's got XM-ready built in....

brought it home last night, so I have yet to 'tinker' with it.

BTW, if anyone is looking for a uber-clean 2006 2LT in DSM, Henry Curtis Ford has one!!!

Those are great trucks. My father in law has over 250,000 miles on his and all just regular maintenance. I think the dashboard gauges went out once. Anyway enjoy your truck.

I had a 2000 Silverado NON HD with a 4.3L V6 and a 5sp Manual and I sold it off with 264,000 miles, and it was still running strong, just sucking oil faster than I wanted. Got my HHR as a replacement. Do I miss it? YES! I loved back road drifting with it. But, I love the fuel economy, and versatility of my HHR..

Those are nice trucks for sure. Congrats.

I see you mention having to stay within a certain budget so I hope you accounted for the extra fuel cost in that budget. 10-12 MPG plus a 26 gallon fuel tank but if you need a truck this is a good truck aside from the milage.

@Smoke Wagon, are you still enjoying your truck? I am sure it was very hard to let go of the HHR, but you have a great looking truck that I am sure your wife will love driving.

Nice truck! My ideal combo - 3/4 ton crew shortbed. Had you shopped for diesels? On a '05, what would have been the penalty over a gas version?
