And what makes it junk? Something as simple as a tune might increase your gas mileage.

First tank I got 33.5 mpg Hiway and after a week city/hiway was 28.4.

For those getting bad MPG, try a steady cruz with the cruise control on. See what the mpg is then. If it's higher then, it's your driving style that may be the issue. Make sure the tires are at the recomended pressure. Low tire pressue will eat gas mileage.

These are also engines that like to rev. Low RPM and they are lugging and will suck gas. I'm getting my MPG at about 3000 RPM/70mpg. with a 5 spd.

I have noticed that my average improves by two miles per gallon by using 89 instead of 87 octane gasoline. Getting an average of about 26 with all kinds of driving.

like already stated easy is not always best. I have noticed that when taking off it is better to get to your cruzing speed quicker rather then keep accelerating slowly to your desired speed. The DIC shows your average so the less time you spent accelerating (low milage) = more time at cruzing speed with better mileage, so the average is going to be higher.
I have gotten my MPH as high as 95+ with the cruise set at 70. Then again my trip home from work is 20+ miles all steep downhill with no stoplights

My driving is almost an even split of city and highway, and I've tended to average anywhere between 26 and 33mpg. Part of it's traffic conditions, part of it's driving style, part of it's possibly wind velocity.. I'm sure there's more that goes into it.
